HISTORY

Hope Community Church was chartered in 1936 in Donna, Texas as a product of the revival in the 1920’s and 1930’s during the Great Depression.

After founder Aimee Semple McPherson established the Foursquare Church and a bible college, pastors and evangelist were sent out to begin planting church across the United States and Donna, Texas was one of those churches.

The Foursquare Church in Donna has survived the test of time thru WWII, Korean war, Vietnam War, The Great Depression and Economic hard times in the 1970’s. The church has also survived natural disasters like Hurricane Buelah in 1967 ( where the second floor of the church building was destroyed) and Hurricane Dolly in 2008.

The church has gone through many social and economic transitions since 1936. Today the church congregation accurately reflects the culture of the community around it. All are welcomed, and the focus is to point people to Jesus, who is no respecter of person.
