Our Heavenly Home

Main Point:  We as believers and followers of Christ who have been born again have an eternal home called Heaven. It is a glorious and beautiful place. This is where we will spend eternity with our heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.
 
Opening Scripture:  John 14:1-3 NKJV.  There are many mansions in the Father’s house. Jesus went to prepare a place for us, and then will come again to receive us to Himself.

HEAVEN IS A GENUINE PLACE - Revelation 21:1-3 NKJV.
 

• HEAVEN IS A GENUINE PLACE OF REST - Revelation 21:4 NKJV.
• HEAVEN IS A GENUINE PLACE OF RESIDENCE - Heaven is a place where people and angelic beings live. For us followers of Christ who have been born again, it is our eternal home.

HEAVEN IS A GLORIOUS PLACE - Revelation 21:9-27 NKJV. Describes the city called “The New Jerusalem”. This is the capitol city of heaven, where the saints will live.

• To attempt to describe its glories is to exhaust all the adjectives and descriptive language known to man. 
• Magnificent, Beautiful, Spectacular, Breathtaking, Awesome, and Super Majestic.
  • However, none of these words even begins to describe this amazing place called heaven.

 
1st Corinthians 2:9 NKJV. But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
 
HEAVEN IS GLORIOUS IN ITS BEAUTY - There is no way to describe this city adequately in all its glory. However, I will mention three quick thoughts.

• HEAVEN IS BEAUTIFUL IN ITS CREATION - Revelation 21:5 NKJV. Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” This is a city built by God Himself.
• HEAVEN IS BEAUTIFUL IN ITS DURATION - All cities of this earth crumble and decay. Not so, with Heaven it will stand forever.
• HEAVEN IS BEAUTIFUL IN ITS CONSTRUCTION - Revelation 21:14-17 NKJV.  The Apostle John tries to describe the construction of this beautiful city.

HEAVEN IS GLORIOUS IN IT’S BLESSINGS - There are two great blessings mentioned in these verses that should tell us that heaven is the place we should be looking for.

• The first blessing of heaven is the presence of God.
• The second blessing is the promise of God.

HEAVEN IS A GUARDED PLACE - Revelation 21:27 NKJV. “But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.”

• Guarded from sin - We will be forever free from the devil, of temptation, of this flesh and all sin.
• Guarded for the saved The entrance requirements are so strict, that there is only one way to get in. John 3:3 “Jesus said, “Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.””

 
Closing Thought: Where will you be when you die? Will you go to heaven with all of its glory? The answer depends on what you do with Jesus!
