Freedom and Power

Main Point:  Salvation brings freedom from the law, from sin and eternal death.  Walking in the Spirit brings Power.  (Walking in the Spirit means living in Godly principles-9 fruits and God’s Word).

The resurrection brings freedom for those who accept Jesus as their Lord.
  • 2 Corinthians 3:17. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Freedom.
  • Romans 8:1-10.
    • V2.  Jesus has made us free from sin and eternal death
    • V4.  The righteousness of God is fulfilled in those who walk after the Spirit (walking in the Spirit means living by Godly principles as illustrated in God’s word and the 9 fruits of the Spirit).
  • Galatians 5:13-14.
    • V13.  Use your Freedom to serve and love one another.
    • V14.  Love your neighbor as yourself and you are fulfilling God’s love (keep It simple).

Pastor’s Thoughts:
  • The Old Testament laws do not save our souls.  Jesus fulfilled the law by being the final sacrifice for the sin of all mankind who believe.
  • We are free from the law of Moses when Jesus is our Lord.  Jesus is the final sacrifice
  • We are not saved because of good deeds (works).  We are saved only by our faith in Jesus as our savior and Lord.
    • Do not use your freedom to sin, rather use your freedom to serve and love others.

The Holy Spirit brings power for those who walk in the Spirit.
  • Galatians 5:24-25.  Those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh.  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
  • Acts 1:8. You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.
  • Ephesians 3:16. Be strengthened by the Holy Spirit.

The Christian Journey in 2 steps:
  1.  Salvation brings freedom from the law and sin and eternal death.
  2.  Walking in the Spirit brings Power (living in Godly principles-9 fruits and God’s Word)

Be Diligent:
  • 2 Peter 1:10. Be diligent to show you are called by God.
  • 2 Peter 3:14. Be diligent that ye may be found of God in peace, without spot and blameless
    • Not perfect just willing to be perfected.

Summary:
  • Salvation is a precious gift paid for by Jesus on the cross.
  • Freedom belongs to all who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord
  • The Holy Spirit empowers and leads us into the righteousness of God.  (As you grow you become more Christ-like)
  • Do not be satisfied with ordinary.  Be diligent to show you are a child of God with Freedom and Power.
