My Redeemer Lives

Main Point:  My Redeemer lives.  We are redeemed and are destined to be heirs of the Kingdom of God.

Foundation Scripture:  Revelation 5:9.  Jesus is the only one worthy to redeem mankind by his precious blood.

Define Redeemer:
Someone who saves or rescues a person from danger or bondage.

Why do we need a redeemer?
  • Adam and Eve brought sin into the world by disobedience.
    • Romans 5:12-17.  One sinned, one redeemed unto righteousness.
  • All mankind is a slave to sin without a redeemer (scripture)
    • Romans 6:17-18.  Servants of sin are redeemed to servants of righteousness through Jesus.
    • Without a redeemer we are in bondage to the consequences of sin (eternal death)
      • Romans 6:22-23.  Wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus, our redeemer.

What is the outcome for those who are redeemed?
  • Reconciled to God
    • Romans 5:10.  We were once enemies of God but were reconciled back to God by the death of His Son.
  • Not servants but heirs to God’s Kingdom
    • Romans 8:17; Galatians 4:7;  We are heirs of God.  We are no longer slaves but redeemed to be a child and heir to God.

Pastor’s Thoughts:
  • Jesus paid it all so we could be redeemed, reconciled back to God.
  • Now that we are redeemed.  Live like it.
  • You are a temple of God.  Live like it.
  • You are instruments of God’s love.  Live like it.

Conclusion:
  • What a treasure we have in Jesus.
  • Because he lives:
    • We are redeemed
    • We are right standing before God.
    • We are heirs to an eternal Kingdom
  • My redeemer lives
