Prayer Works

Main Point:  Prayer works because God said it and because God loves you.  Prayer takes faith and faith pleases God.  God calls on Christians to be people of Prayer.

Even Scientist admit Prayer has positive effects on people:

• Neuroscience & Brain Activity: Brain scans show that deep, meditative prayer activates the prefrontal cortex—the part of the brain linked to focus and well-being. It also reduces activity in the amygdala, which lowers stress, anxiety, and cortisol levels.
• The Relaxation Response: Regular prayer triggers the body’s parasympathetic nervous system. This leads to stabilized heart rates, reduced muscle tension, and a general improvement in overall vitality.

What is Prayer?

• Prayer is a deliberate act of spiritual communication directed towards a deity, higher power, or object of worship.
  • We communicate with God through Prayer.

Pray to know God:

• Christians with a consistent secret place time with God know His voice.
  • Those who abide in the secret place are promised many good things from God.
    • Psalm 91:1-16.  V11.  God will give his Angels charge over thee.

Scriptures about Prayer:

• Philippians 4:6-7.  Replace worry with prayer.  Let your request be known unto God and receive his peace.
• 1 John 5:14-15.  When we ask according to His will.  He hears us.
• James 5:16. Pray for one another.  The prayer from someone who knows God is powerful and effective.
• Mark 11:24. God answers prayer.
• Colossians 4:2. Continue steadfastly in Prayer
• 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.  Pray without ceasing.  Give thanks to God in all circumstances.

Pastor’s Thoughts:

• Pray more, not less
• Make prayer as important as drinking water (you have to have it)
• Prayer will strengthen your relationship with God.
• Prayer will defeat the schemes of the enemy
• If you have received Jesus as Lord, pray with confidence
  • Do not doubt you have authority over the enemy in Jesus name.

Prayer is a weapon:

• Ephesians 6:12. We don’t wrestle with flesh and blood but against unseen spiritual forces.

• Prayer works
