The Gates of Hell Will Not Prevail

Main Point:  The enemy is at work to steal, kill, and destroy.  God is at work to save and give life more abundantly.  No matter our circumstances the gates of hell will not prevail.

Foundation Scripture: Matthew 16:18. Jesus will protect his Bride.  The church.

Warfare is not optional:

• It’s wise to know you are involved in a battle with darkness to steal, kill, and destroy. John 10:10
• It’s wise to know if God is with you who can be against you.  Romans 8:31

Examples of Spiritual battles played out in humanity

• Adam and Eve
  • Genesis 3:1-5.  Sin entered the world because the devil deceived Adam and Eve.  Spiritual battle for humanity is not looking good.
• Noah’s Ark
  • Genesis 6:13-14.  Sin has corrupted humanity so bad that God sent a flood to restart humanity with Noah and his family.
• Jesus death and resurrection (This was the victory of all victories)
  • Romans 4:24-25.  Jesus was crucified because of humanities sins (including yours and mine).  But the resurrection is our justification.  For those who believe, the enemy has no sin to account against us because we are purchased by the blood of the lamb of God – Jesus.
• Saul’s threat to the new Christian Church
  • Acts 9:1-2. Saul was orchestrating the elimination of the Christian church
  • Acts 9:3-6. Jesus intervenes directly with Saul to protect the Church.

Pastor Thoughts:

• Jesus will intervene to protect the church
• Jesus will intervene to protect your calling
• The enemy will throw fiery darts and it may even look like he is succeeding for a season.
  • But do not doubt or fear.  Let your faith arise.  God is with you and will ensure your calling is protected.

Conclusion

• The enemy has no power over your soul
• We are in a spiritual battle where Jesus has promised to protect the church from the enemy.
• The gates of hell will not prevail against you.
• Your calling is protected and without repentance
• It doesn’t matter what you have done in your past.  The enemy has no case against you because you are covered in the righteousness of Jesus.
