Instruments of Love

Main Point:  God’s Kingdom is all about Love.  Without love we are nothing according to 1 Corinthians 13:2.  God is Love and we are called to be instruments of Love.

Foundation Scripture:  1 Corinthians 13:2.  Without love that comes from God, we are nothing.

Pastor’s Thoughts:

• Not the kind of love the world understands, but the kind of Love that comes from God.
• There is a difference between mankind’s understanding of love and love that comes from God.

Scriptures about Love.
Luke 6:31-35.  Love supernaturally.  Great reward for those who love expecting nothing in return.
John 13:33-35.  Love one another as Christ has loved us.
Matthew 22:37-40.  Love your neighbor as yourself.
 
Events that show heavenly love.

• The Cross – Romans 5:8.  While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
• The Cross- John 15:13. No greater love than giving your life for someone else.
• Your salvation – John 3:16.  For God so love the world he sent his son to save us.
• Your passion to grow as a Christian. 1 John 3:18. Love by your actions, not your words.
  • Growth comes from our actions that demonstrate our love for others
  • Greatness is loving and serving others. Matthew 20:26-27
  • Use the liberty you have in Christ to love and serve others.  Galatians 5:13
  • Giants for God’s Kingdom love and serve others well.

How important was it for Jesus to teach his disciples about loving and serving others.

• John 13:1-17.  Knowing his days on earth had come to an end, Jesus demonstrates the importance of loving and serving others.
• John 21:15-17.  We love Jesus by loving others.

Pastor’s Thoughts:

• It’s all about being an instrument of Love
• The closer you are to God in your secret place, the more God’s love flows through you
• We love because Christ first loved us
• When we are full of God’s love for others we find true joy and peace
  • The world without Christ can never find true joy and peace.  Only a temporary counterfeit
• The answer to the chaos and sin of this world is found in the love demonstrated by Jesus Christ.
