Freedom For?

Key Scriptures:
Galations 5:1.  "For Freedom Christ has set us free, stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery."

Freedom isn't something you simply receive, It's something you must protect.

Point 1:  Christ Didn't set you free so you could return to chains
Matthew 12:43-45

• Jesus sets us free from this from sin, shame, fear, addiction, bitterness, and every chain.
• Freedom without transformation becomes vulnerability.
• It's not enough to remove sin from our lives - we must fill our hearts with Christ

Point 2:  Freedom must be guarded
Just as a nation protects it's freedom, Christians must intentionally protect the freedom Christ has given them.

Five ways to protect your spiritual freedom
1. Daily Time with God
Psalm 119:11
God's Word guards our hearts and strengthens our faith

2. Prayer (Your Secret Place)
James 4:8
Stay close to the One who set you free.

3. Church Community
Hebrews 18:24-25
We were never meant to follow Jesus alone.

4. Accountability
James 5:16
Freedom grows in honesty and confession.

5. Worship
Psalm 149:6
Worship keeps our hearts centered on God and reminds us where true victory is found.

Point 3:  Freedom is meant to be used.
Galations 5:13
"For you were called to freedom, brothers, only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another."

Freedom is not permission to live for ourselves

We were set free to:

• Love others
• Serve others
• Worship Jesus
• Become more like Christ
