Exit Egypt and Trust God

Main Point:  Exiting Egypt maybe uncomfortable but it is the time to trust God and see his hand at work in your life.

Foundation Scripture:  Exodus 12:37-42.  Many things had to happen in order to get to this point of leaving Egypt.
1. First, Moses had to stop making excuses, (at the burning bush)
2. Second, Pharaoh/Bondage had to be broken (10 plagues),
3. Third, God’s chosen people had to pick up there stuff and leave to an unknown destination by faith.

Pastor’s Thoughts:
  • As I thought about this it’s sounded very familiar.  Each and everyone one of us, in our journey in Christ, have encountered the following.
    • 1.  Stop making excuses (we need a savior, we need to surrender our will to God’s will)
    • 2.  We then have to recognize that our sinful nature/chains of bondage has to be broken (by the same power that rose Christ from the dead).
    • 3.   Then we have to leave Egypt to an unknown destination by faith (in other words leave that place of bondage, leave that place of sin, leave that place that keeps us far from God.
  • The children of God would have never experienced God’s amazing power and signs and wonders if they would have stayed in Egypt.
    • You will never experience Gods’ power and signs in wonders in your life if you just stay in that place where God doesn’t want you to be.
  • We must set things right and leave Egypt, the place of bondage.
  • It is God’s character to bring greatness out of you, so his holy spirit continues to remind us to get out of Egypt (the place of bondage and sin) and go to the promise land (that place where God is directing you).  There you will see God’s hand move on your behalf.

God’s hand will move on your behalf
Exodus 13: 19-21 – cloud by day, pillar of fire by night.
Exodus 14:21-31 – Red Sea miracle.
Exodus 15:2-4-Manna from heaven.
Exodus 17:3-7 – water from the rock

Conclusion:  Egypt represents a place of bondage, a place where God is not, a Place of slavery and defeat.
  • So it is time for God’s people to rise above and begin to move toward God’s plan for our lives.
  • Begin to move by faith.
  • When we get stuck in front of an obstacle, don’t worry the red sea will divide for you,
  • When you begin to get thirsty, don’t worry the dry rock will provide water,
  • When you begin to get hungry, don’t worry the manna will come to fill you.
  • God loves you and his desire is for us to move out of our old life and claim our new life in Christ Jesus.
  • Fight for it, then watch with amazement how God will make a way where there seems to be no way.
  • All is well for his children who diligently seek him.
  • So if God has confirmed in your heart this morning that you need to move out of Egypt (a place of bondage) and begin to walk by faith, trusting God.  Then it is time to take a step to freedom….
