We Have Authority

Main Point: We have authority over the darkness of this world.

Story of the Centurion:

Luke 7:1-10: illustrates God’s authority over sickness.

The Centurion tells Jesus, “You don’t have to come to my house, since you have authority over sickness, just claim your authority and my servant will be healed. That impressed even Jesus.

Pastor’s thoughts:

-Aim for that kind of faith. The kind of faith that never doubts that we serve an all-powerful God with authority over sickness, authority over darkness, and authority over every living thing.

-It gets better because not only does God have authority over darkness but his word makes it clear that we have this same authority. Not by our name or our righteousness but by the name of Jesus.

Jesus giving his authority to ordinary people.

Luke 10:17-21. Jesus sends 70 people to demonstrate his power and authority.

Pastor’s thoughts:

-The truth is that many Christians live their lives without operating in the power and authority of God.

-In my experience, the secret to living in God’s power and authority is a daily personal relationship with God that nobody can see but you.
