Our Story

History of Hope Community Church

How it all started...

Hope Community Church was chartered in 1936 in Donna, Texas as a product of the revival in the 1920’s and 1930’s during the Great Depression. After founder Aimee Semple McPherson established the Foursquare Church and a bible college, pastors and evangelist were sent out to begin planting church across the United States and Donna, Texas was one of those churches. The Foursquare Church in Donna has survived the test of time thru WWII, Korean war, Vietnam War, The Great Depression and Economic hard times in the 1970’s. The church has also survived natural disasters like Hurricane Buelah in 1967 ( where the second floor of the church building was destroyed) and Hurricane Dolly in 2008. The church has gone through many social and economic transitions since 1936. Today the church congregation accurately reflects the culture of the community around it. All are welcomed, and the focus is to point people to Jesus, who is no respecter of person.

Expanding the vision...

Rooted in unwavering belief in the transformative power of faith, our vision for the future is filled with hope and purpose. As we journey forward, we envision deepening our commitment to spreading the Gospel message and sharing the love of Christ. Our plans include expanding outreach efforts, and engaging with people in our community to demonstrate God's love to those around us.

As we look ahead, our vision is one of growth, unity, and impact, where King Jesus is Praised in every aspect of our lives and where His love shines brightly for all to see. Together, we press forward with anticipation and courage, trusting in God's faithfulness and leading as we embark on this journey of faith and transformation.
