Faith

Main Point: True faith looks like something. It is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.

Faith – What is it? Hebrews 11:1 says “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

- It is a confidence in Jesus Christ and what He has done, is doing, and will do in the future.

2 Corinthians 5:7. We walk by faith not by sight. What does this really mean?

- It means we do not take a path in our lives because it looks like a good path with our eyes. We are supposed to pray and by faith wait for the leading of the Holy Spirit to guide us on our journey.

How can we grow our faith? Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”

- In other words, we grow by reading scripture every single day. By finding ways to get more of God’s word in your hearts and minds.

What faith is not? Confidence in the carnal. So often we place our faith and confidence in things of this world.

Romans 12:2. “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

Faith an Eternal Perspective:

Faith is not about being happy all the time. Faith is about being at peace because you know this world is not your home.

James 1:2-4. “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

James 4:14. “Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” Keep your life in perspective. Heaven is our goal not carnal wants.

You will end up wherever the path you are on leads
