Peace over Worry

May 3, 2020    Elias Ozuna

Main Point of the sermon today is: God has not called us into a life of worry and anxiety. Because Jesus lives we can face tomorrow. God has called us to be at peace by trusting that in all circumstances God will make a way. God will answer our prayers. God is in control. So choose Peace over worry.

Foundation Scripture: Matthew 6:25-34. There is no need to worry because God is with you.

Scriptures on ‘not worrying’

- 1 Peter 5:6-8. Cast all your cares upon Jesus.

- Philippians 4:6-7. Let your request be made known to God and let God’s peace be in your heart.

- Isaiah 41:10. Fear not. God is with you. God will hold you up with his righteous right hand.

Pastor’s thoughts:

- So I have found that faith, no matter what my circumstances, or worry, or anxiety; faith is the answer to defeating worry. And when faith overcomes worry then Peace wins the day.

- Part of finding your victory over worry is to surrender everything to God.

- Jesus said “cast your cares upon me”.

- So the reason so many Christians are anxious and worried to the point that it affects their mood and their ability to be a light in the world of darkness is because we haven’t learned to really cast our care upon Jesus.

- So my message to the church today is do whatever it takes to figure out how to cast your cares upon Jesus.

- Beg God to empower you with the Holy Spirit to experience your cares being transferred to Jesus and walking away in peace.

Scripture on Peace:

- John 14:27. God has promised us his peace so let not your heart be troubled.

- Colossians 3:14-15. Love others and let the peace of God rule in your heart.
