Sermon Notes:

Main Point:  Jesus has set us free from sin and unrighteousness.  Walk in freedom and you will produce fruit unto holiness.

Foundation Scripture

Galatians 5:1.   It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

  • What has Christ set us free from?  Romans 6:17-23.
  • v22.  Now that we are free from the bondage of sin, the result will be fruit unto holiness.  (the fruits of the spirit will become more and more evident in your life).
    • The entire world is trying to find these fruits without God and it will never work because of the bondage of sin
    • The only answer is freedom that comes from Christ Jesus and you will produce the following fruit
      • Love, Joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Galatians 5:22-23)

Pastor’s Thoughts:

  • The Holy Spirit in you enables you to bear these fruits.
  • Our responsibility is to surrender and allow the Holy Spirit to do the work to produce these fruits in our lives.
  • Some Christians try to pick and choice which fruits they want to focus on.  That is a red flag warning that your heart is not surrendered all to Jesus.
  • Give Jesus all of it.  Surrender all of it.
  • Then you will experience transformation and true freedom and blessings for your life
  • This freedom combined with the fruits in your heart will result in you loving and serving others which is how Jesus defines greatness in God’s Kingdom.

Cannot serve two masters:

Matthew 6:24-26.  Luke Warm is a danger zone.

  • Slave to Sin/carnal sinful nature leads to bondage and eternal death.
  • Slave to Christ leads to everlasting life.
    • Jesus is Holy, Righteous, Good

Conclusion:

  • Your freedom in Christ Jesus will produce the fruits of the spirit in your heart
  • Christians have the answer to lives challenges.  It is freedom in Christ Jesus
  • Do not suffer because you did not surrender all to Jesus.
  • Enjoy the love, joy, peace, etc.  that is available to us because we have freedom in Christ Jesus
  • Trust and see that Jesus is good.  Blessings will overflow even as life brings challenges.
