No Other Gods

Main Point:  We are to have no other God’s.  Love God and Love people are the greatest commandments.

Foundation Scripture: Exodus 20:1-3.  God requires us to have no other God’s.
Define Most Valuable:  Having the highest worth, utility, or importance.

Heart check:

• What does your heart value the most?
• What is the most important thing to you?
• How do you want to be remembered?

Jesus is asked about the greatest commandments:
Mark 12:28-34.  Jesus clarifies the most important commandments.  Love God, Love People.

• In these two commandments hang all the law and the Prophets.   Matthew 22:40

Pastor’s Thoughts:

• The evidence that proves you love God is in how you love and serve others?
  • Loving and serving others is loving God.
• In other words, show me someone who loves and serves others expecting nothing in return and I’ll show you someone who loves God.
• Luke 6:35. Love others expecting nothing in return and you have proven you love God.

First things First

• Before you can love and serve others with God’s love flowing through you, you must fall in love with Jesus first.
  • Jesus paid it all on the cross and for those who believe we are saved from a lost eternity
  • Once we fall in love with Jesus and accept his salvation, then we begin to know Jesus personally       
    • Your time alone praying to God (the secret place) is where you get to know God personally.
  • The more we know and love Jesus the more we are empowered to love and serve others.

How do I know if I have no other Gods?

• Your decisions and actions show who your God is.
• Are you taking actions like:
  • serving others, secret place time, attending church regularly, reading your bible, praying faithfully, giving of tithes and offerings

Pastor’s Thoughts:

• When God is first in your heart:
  • You will know God
  • You will have confidence in who God made you to be
  • You will be at peace
  • You will have Joy

 
Conclusion:

• We can not have others God before the one true God.
• Check your heart that nothing is before God.
• Loving others expecting nothing in return is how loving God looks like.
