It's All About Love pt4

Main Point:  Walk in the Spirit and the fruit of the Spirit will guide your emotions into Godly things.  God is Love.

Quick Review about Love:
  • There is a difference between mankind’s love and God’s love (Luke 6:31-38)
  • If we lack God’s love flowing through us we have nothing (1 Corinthians 13:2-3)
  • We love Jesus by loving others because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19)
  • Use your liberty in Christ Jesus to Love and serve one another (Galatians 5:13-15)
  • All the Law is fulfilled in one simple thought, Love your others like you love yourself (Galatians 5:13-4)

How do we live producing God’s love?
  • Galatians 5:24.  Crucify the Flesh.
  • Galatians 5:25.  Those who are saved (live in the spirit) must also walk in the spirit.
  • Galatians 5:16.  Walk in the spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh
    • Christians who walk in the Spirit will demonstrate God’s love to the world.

Walking in the spirit
  • Intentional act of pursuing God’s will over our carnal will.
    • Run to the Cross – Sin is dealt with at the cross.
    • Put yourself in situations to experience God-Be intentional about being were God is.  (church, secret place, bible reading, giving, etc)
    • Don’t be afraid to get uncomfortable for God’s Kingdom – Stepping out of your comfort zone is where you will see signs and wonders.

Fruit of the Spirit
  • Galatians 5:22-23.  Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, Self-Control
    • The fruits of the Spirit are not emotions they are state of being (it is who you are as a children of God)
    • Any form of these fruits without walking in the Spirit is a counterfeit.
    • The fruit of the Spirit is from God and can never lead to sin.

Emotions.  Anger, Happiness,
  • Anger and happiness are emotions and are temporary.  If not controlled they can lead to sin.
    • Emotions are part of our natural Godly design.
    • Emotions are not inherently bad but must be controlled by leading of the Spirit of God in us.
      • Proverbs 16:32-33.  Controlled Anger is strength.  Uncontrolled Anger is weakness.
      • Proverbs 15:18. A hot temper stirs up strife but those slow to anger quiets contention.
      • Proverbs 29:11. A fool vents all his feelings and a wise man holds them back.
    • If emotions are not controlled, they can lead to sin because of our carnal nature which is against God.
               
Summary.
  • Walk in the Spirit and the fruit of the Spirit will guide your emotions into Godly things.
  • This is who you are:   Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, Self-Control
  • Use your liberty in Christ to Love and serve one another guided by the fruits of the Spirit, not emotions.
  • You are ambassadors of God’s love.
  • Be intentional about serving and loving others because that is how you love Jesus (you fed me, clothed me)
