Responding to His Great Love

Main Point:  Jesus died sinless and rose again showing God’s power over sin and death.  God loves you.  What is your response to God’s love for you?

Our sins redeemed because of God’s great Love
Isaiah 53: 5-6.  Jesus carried our iniquities.
1 Peter 2:21-25.  Jesus carried our sins on his body so we may be returned to God; where we belong.
Matthew 20:25-29.  Jesus, a ransom for many leads his disciples by serving others.  Serving others is greatness

Pastor’s Thoughts:

• Though Jesus was sinless, on the cross, Jesus had the weight of our sin on his shoulders.
  • So much so that God the Father could not look upon his one and only begotten Son.
• Matthew 28: 16-20.  Jesus appeared unto the disciples after His resurrection and the last thing he instructed them to do is to spread the good news, baptizing men and women in the name of the father, son, and Holy Spirit.

Our Sins are covered under the righteous blood of Jesus

• Past, Present, and future sins are covered under the blood.
• Breaking News:  You do not have to be perfect to go to heaven.

 
Galatians 5:13.

• Does this mean once we are saved we can sin and our sins are forgiven?
  • No, it means because your sins are forgiven, love God and show God’s love to others by serving others.
• What a treasure to be forgiven and marked by God as his children for eternity.
  • John 3:16.  How will you respond to such great love?

Pastor’s Thoughts:

• Respond by Obeying God’s word
  • 4 principles (pray-secret place, bible-read, faithfully attend church (Praise and worship together), Be a cheerful giver (tithes & Offering, serving others)
• Like the 4 food groups, these are the 4 spiritual food groups.

Summary:

• Since you know what Jesus died for you, what is your response?
  • Surrender all to God’s will
  • Obey his word
  • Be a good steward of the gifts God has given you
  • 4 spiritual food groups (bible, prayer, church, give cheerfully)
