His Promises Are True

Main Point:  You can count on the promises of God.  It doesn’t matter the journey or circumstances in your life, God loves you and will bring you victory because his promises are true.

Re-cap of last two weeks:

• Quench not the Holy Spirit
  • Ask God to fill you by his Spirit (his righteousness) continuously in your prayer life/secret place life.
• You are important to God.
  • God will leave the 99 to find you astray and bring you back to Him.
• His promises are true.
  • Faint not God is with you and He will keep his promises.

Foundation Scripture:  2 Corinthians 1:19-20.  God’s promises are true just like the promise of Jesus redeeming the world is true.

Scripture about God’s Promises being true:

• 2 Peter 3:9-10.  God takes His promises seriously and will redeem as many souls as possible until the Last Days.

Story of Joseph Trusting God’s promises:

• Genesis 37:1-11.  Joseph dreamed a dream that indicated he would be over his brothers and even over his father
  • It is interesting how everyone took this dream so seriously that it stirred up strong emotion.
    • They could have just ignored it.
    • Joseph definitely thought this was more than a dream.  He trusted God had shown him a promise.
      • The evidence is in how Joseph trusted God regardless of circumstances, knowing God would show his promise as true.
• Genesis 37:19-28. Joseph is sold into slavery by his brother because of jealousy and hate.
  • Did Joseph stop believing in God’s promises because tragedy and trials came into his life? No
    • Instead Joseph was the best slave any owner can have.
  • Also, we should never doubt God’s promises toward us will not come to pass.
    • If God is with us that is all we need, regardless of circumstances.
• Genesis 41:9-16.  Finally, things begin to turnaround for Joseph and God is using his gifts to serve others.
  • Joseph never stop believing and he never stopped serving God, regardless of circumstances.  He trusted God.
  • Our lesson from this story is to never stop believing the promises of God
    • Romans 8:28.  All things (both good and evil things) work together for good for those who love God.
• Genesis 45:1-8:  Joseph knew that even though evil was brought to him, it is God who orchestrated that the evil would somehow be turned around to bring Kingdom good.
  • The enemy does not have the power to stop God’s promises and God’s plan for you life.
    • Just trust and obey

Pastor’s Thoughts:

• The story of Joseph teaches us that regardless of circumstances or the enemy attacks, the children of God will see that God’s promises are true and AMEN!

Conclusion:

• Be encouraged.  God loves you and God keeps his promises.
• You can count on the promises of God.
• It doesn’t matter the journey or circumstances in your life, God loves you and will bring you victory because his promises are true.
• Trust and obey.  God’s promises are true.
