Serving

Main Point:   Serving others is the fruit that is produced when you encounter closeness with God.  The more you know God the more you find joy in serving/helping others.

How important is serving others in your life?

Intro:
In the spiritual, there are certain ingredients or biblical principles that when we begin to put them together with a humble heart; it is like putting the ingredients together for revival.
  • And we are starting to see some ingredients come together:  Ingredients like (True Praise and Worship, humility, and loving and serving others.)

First, I want to start with this question.  How important is serving others in your life?
  • How much time do you spend helping or praying or doing something unselfish for other people?  Expecting nothing in return from them. Luke 6:35-36.

Serving and loving others:
Find people to serve/help (be prayerful about it-keep in mind not everyone you help is being helped)
  • If you give a drunkard cash, he will buy alcohol
  • If you give a drunkard food and a prayer, that is better.
  • Be wise.

Scriptures about serving others:
  • Romans 12:3-16.  Don’t think of yourself more highly than you ought to.
    • We are all part of the body of Christ regardless of title or our personality type.
    • Everything in this passage deals with using your gifts to serve/benefit others.
    • Position and title should never matter.  Serve others as the Holy Spirit leads you.
  • Matthew 35: 31-46.  Jesus said if you do it into the least you do it unto me.  Helping others makes Jesus smile because you are doing the work of His Kingdom as an ambassador of Christ.

How important is serving/loving others, additional scriptures:

  • Matthew 23:11-23. Jesus said the greatest in the kingdom is the one who serves others
  • 1 Corinthians 13:13. The greatest of these is Love.
  • Galatians 5:13. Use your freedom to serve others.

Pastor’s Thoughts:

  • When a church or a group of churches (or group of people) gather and know how to genuinely worship God in spirit and in truth
  • And these same church’s serve people outside the four walls of the church
  • And this same church, prays (stands in the gap) for the city/region
  • You have the recipe for revival.
    • At HCC, we want to continue to Praise King Jesus with a genuine passion to be close to God
    • At HCC, we want to serve others outside these 4 walls.
    • Make a commitment to serve and love others for God’s Kingdom
    • Invite others to church so they can experience to Love of God.

Conclusion:

  • Serving others is the fruit that is produced when you encounter closeness with God.
  • The more you know God the more you find joy in serving/helping others.
